An Interaction To Last a Lifetime
Receiving a manuscript evaluation through Writers Retreat Workshop an investment in your writing career, an investment of time, and a challenge to see your characters, perhaps your story, in new ways. Ways that make nuances of story or large chunks of your novel bigger, more deeply layered, and more profound than you might expect.
You receive not only story development feedback on character, description, pacing, scene and sentence structure. You receive conceptual lessons and personal feedback to last through the next project and the next. With over 15 years working with hundreds of writers through manuscript evaluations and 1-1 sessions, Program Director/instructor Jason Sitzes teaches using explanation and example. Bottom line, after the thorough read and feedback you'll receive (by manuscript markup, 90 minute audio report, and ample 1-1 personal time), you will learn in a way that could change your approach to writing forever. It isn't about formula, outlining or organic approaches. Those are up to you; those elements are about your comfort zone. Consider the ideas, experience the twists, dance with the constructive criticism.
Writing a novel is so personal that it's very difficult to be an "objective evaluator" of your own work. To be willing to ask for honest feedback from a pro is an important step in a writer's career. If you feel ready for an in-depth analysis of your work, if you have reached that moment when you'd rather know than not know what is or is not working in your novel, and--more importantly--why, then working with WRW manuscript evaluation service is exactly what you need.
Jason, I value the expert and precise editing you provided as we worked on my non-fiction manuscript, Heaven…It's Not in the Sky. Suggestions improved the flow and precision of the material. You have a great ability to make wording more concise and effective. I appreciate that you always responded in a timely manner. It was a pleasure to work with you on this project. Thank you. I look forward to working with you again.
My book was a consistent start-stop project for three years. In less than four months I went from not knowing Jason to trusting his judgment based on great communication, creativity and wonderful writing skills. I give Jason the highest marks and recommendation possible.
Up to 400 pages, double-spaced (averaging 250 words per page, additional pages: $4 each.)... $1850
This includes a page-by-page commentary using track changes on Word (if you prefer an old-school markup with a few coffee stains on the pages, we can do that), a 90 to 120 minute audio report where Jason discusses every mark, every thought, every brilliant moment in your novel (and why it works) and every challenge he has for you to consider. After you review the manuscript, listen to the audio, compile your thoughts and questions, you then have a 30-minute phone or Skype session with Jason. We do not want you to leave the experience confused. You'll also receive marketing help included (synopsis, cover letter review). THE PARTIAL MANUSCRIPT EVALUTION
This is the option for those who haven't finished a manuscript. Or perhaps have, but would like to see why rejections are coming in. Is it in the first section of the novel? Perhaps. In this manuscript evaluation you receive page by page comments with tracked changes via Word, and a detailed 3-5 pages report of the first 100 pages, plus synopsis of the rest of the novel...$800. To register for this service and reserve your space, please visit our Market page.
